Dian is the author of the book The World As It Once Was. More than five years in the making (actually millions of years in the making :) , bringing together pictures taken by over 100 award-winning photographers from around the world and benefiting from the scientific advice of 30 world class experts (some of whom have worked with the BBC & David Attenborough or Nat Geo), all well-seasoned with powerful storytelling, this book is an exquisite cultural immersion.

Dian is an experienced, sought-after inspirational speaker on biodiversity and environmental issues at events in Africa, Asia, Europe and North America (e.g. Yukon Beringia 2021, 17th LA Elephant Symposium, Mammoth India 2021, EMC Africa 2020, WPZ Netherlands 2019, Brussels 2017, Ho Chi Minh City 2012), specialized in megafauna topics and a member of the Pleistocene Mammals Society.

He is a judge for the prestigious Jackson Wild film festival and a scientific contributor to different reputable publications such as Larger than Tigers, Cranium, Ancient Origins, Africa Geographic and Asian Geographic.

Dian advised as an expert in high profile international cases dealing with environmental and climate change issues, such as the management of fish stocks under UNCLOS, the protection of endangered species (grey wolves under the EU Habitats Directive), palm oil production by Indonesia and Malaysia, deforestation, carbon emissions footprints and African swine fever.

Finally, he is a multi-award winning fine art wildlife photographer specialized in megafauna. His photos have been published by BBC Earth, National Geographic, GEO, Wild Planet Photo Magazine, Asian Geographic, Africa Geographic, Nat'Images, Ancient Origins, Pachyderm and Cranium, among others. His megafauna pictures have been displayed in numerous exhibitions around the world (Brussels, Mexico City etc).
